Orientations for linkAges in the Saratoga area:
Help the homeless in Silicon Valley, donate to BOSN SILICON VALLEY http://siliconvalleycollaborative.org
In Silicon Valley, America’s innovation heartland, the growing population of the homeless on the streets and under bridges is heart wrenching; extended periods of living on the streets and substance abuse results in mental health issues which further pushes the homeless deeper into the underground; out of sight and often out of mind. Although not all have substance abuse problems, having to live outside, in and of itself, can devastate lives rapidly especially women and children.
BOSN, a Los Gatos based non-profit organization dedicated to helping the homeless in Silicon Valley, has helped numerous people by giving them a hand up with job applications, staging and driving them to interviews, finding them shelter or low-income housing, sometime even temporary motel accommodations and so much more. Every Friday and Sunday they meet with them, counsel them, build their trust and try to bring back hope in their lives. You can make a difference too by becoming a sponsor for any of the numerous homeless members who are in their database and who need immediate help or by giving a general donation.
Please visit http://siliconvalleycollaborative.org, click on Step 2 and use the password help1 to view video profiles and sponsor a member or simply click on the donate button on the site to give a general donation. No matter what your level of involvement, it is all very much appreciated.
